Abstract

Lifestyle reflects the way individuals live their daily lives, as expressed through their activities, interests, and opinions. The lifestyle of nightclub visitors constitutes an important element in understanding the development of night tourism in Yogyakarta, which is characterized by the increasing growth of urban nightlife entertainment activities. Nightclubs function not only as recreational spaces but also as arenas for social identity formation, self expression, and social interaction among visitors. This study aims to identify the lifestyle patterns of nightclub visitors based on observational data and in-depth interviews with 25 participants at prominent nightclubs in Yogyakarta. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design and was analyzed using NVivo software.

The findings reveal three dominant themes in the lifestyle of nightclub visitors in Yogyakarta: culture and norms, hedonism, and representation and self validation. This study contributes empirically grounded insights into visitor lifestyle patterns, which may serve as a reference for strengthening nightclub management strategies and the development of night tourism in Yogyakarta to be more adaptive, safe, and aligned with visitor characteristics.
